THE SKY IS GREEN AND THE GRASS IS BLUE
The title refers to “The Grass is Blue” by Dolly Parton, a song in which reality is reversed to cope with loss. In Flo Bastiaensen’s work, that reversal is not an escape, but a way to make room for something else.
The images convey the atmosphere of a family weekend in nature—not literally, but as a feeling. Figures are not specific, yet recognizable. Something between memory and
imagination. Colors shift, things don't quite add up. Her work approaches naivety as a form of freedom: the ability to look differently, detached from what is fixed.
